DescriptionThe purpose of the class is to operate light to medium equipment and perform manual labor in the abatement of mosquitos; to maintain assigned equipment; and to perform other work as required. This class works according to some procedures but decides how or when to do things; work is reviewed regularly by supervisor.DutiesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Operates a mosquito spray truck four (4) to six (6) hours per evening as needed.
  • Carries out the County's safety program in pesticide applicator and application equipment safety
as required by federal/state laws.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records of operations.
  • Manually loads/unloads equipment and supplies onto vehicles.
  • Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Assists co-workers with various duties as required.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.
  • Attends training as required to maintain or enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED.
Requires at least one (1) year of related work experience.Special Qualifications:
Must possess a valid state driver's license.
Must be able to read maps/GPS and locate specific areas within the County.
Must be able to work non-standard shift hours; normal working hours begins at 9 PM; generally, this position will be 15-25 hours per week during mosquito season (April - November).
