Shift/Schedule: Full Time (Salaried)GENERAL SUMMARYThe Manager of Ultrasound reports to the Adm. Director of Medical Imaging. The primary job function is to provide the leadership and management skills necessary to develop, implement, monitor, and lead the activities of SOMC’s Ultrasound department.QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
  • High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
  • Graduate of an approved school Diagnostic Medical Sonography required
Licensure:
  • ARDMS required
  • BLS within 90 day introductory required
Experience:
  • Two years previous ultrasound experience required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSThe following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.1. Assess physician's orders to ensure correct exam. Obtains and documents patient medical history information.2. Properly identifies patient.3. Determines extent of exam and archives images to PACS system.4. Discusses imaging information with radiologist and other physicians.5. Observes staff in performance of duties and demonstrates techniques to improve quality and job efficiency.6. Assists physicians during procedures as needed.7. Behaves in a professional manner at all times (includes not abusing telephone privileges, breaks, socializing, and being consistently punctual etc.). Acknowledges and adheres to the Standards of Behavior handbook.8. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.9. Requests equipment service as needed.10. Responsible for the orientation and training of new employees, including safety practices and universal precautions.11. Maintains clean work area and equipment. Responsible for usage and ordering of supplies.12. Assists with budgetary compliance by monitoring use of overtime and adherence to staffing guidelines.13. Supervises and directs personnel in the delivery of excellent patient care.14. Contributes and fosters the team approach in all department operations.15. Conducts performance appraisals of Ultrasound staff.16. Counsels, guides, and directs staff,17. Responds to customer service complaints.18. Performs leader rounding on Ultrasound staff.19. Pre-cleans, decontaminates and transports contaminated instruments according to policy20. Performs intermediate-level disinfection and/ or high level disinfection per the Instructions for Use (IFU) by the manufacture.
