CLASS SUMMARY:Support department by coordinating cross divisional initiatives and projects. Typical duties may include: assist in and oversee the purchasing processes and coordination of contracts of the public works department; maintains and reviews website content with department leadership and division head feedback; collaborate with divisions in the development of their annual operating budgets, ensure that work orders and complaints are properly routed to the appropriate division for resolution and assisting with follow-up as necessary, and performs other related activities.TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
1. Prepares a variety of studies, reports, and related information; conducts research analysis, and prepares recommendations regarding proposals for programs, AP/Purchasing
2.Facilitates the purchasing and procurement process related to all public works department contracts and make proper routing within various division to support required procurements in line with City and departmental policies.
3. May assist in efforts to optimize and improve department wide operations and management.
4. Organize, assist, and train various public works divisions in the development of their budgets, assisting supervisor level staff transition to new financial software procedures.
5. Supervise staff training: and provides support to Division Managers within and assists as directed with the preparation of annual operating budgets.
6. Provides administrative support to include providing information in person, or via phone, mail, or email; updating the City's website; assisting with budget preparation by monitoring office expenditures and recommending items to be included in the budget; Coordinates departmental initiatives for public dissemination through the Communications Office.
7. Prepares, maintains, updates and/or submits reports, records, files, and other documentation; maintains and/or updates applicable databases, and record management software and other systems, to ensure timely and accurate information documentation and dissemination of work-related operations and processes; ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
8. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.Prefer experience with software including Tyler Financial software, Laserfiche, Cityworks, GIS, and work-order systemsLICENSING REQUIREMENTS:May require a valid Texas state driver's license.KNOWLEDGE:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
