Job RequirementsPOSITION SUMMARY:The Cardiac Care Tech is fully engaged in providing Uncompromised Safety, Superior Quality, Memorable Patient/Customer Experiences, and Financial Stewardship by assisting licensed personnel in providing nursing care of arterial venous sheath removal and other procedures under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Performs arterial and venous sheath removal post cardiac and radiology procedures under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  • Maintains and documents care of the puncture site post sheath removal under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  • Performs quality EKG tracing and performs Stat EKG's when requested.
  • Collects, records, and reports accurate patient information.
  • Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the health care team and promotes effective team functioning.
  • Utilizes Health First computer systems with regard to order inquiry and patient documentation.
  • Utilizes secondary skill as a monitor technician as needed; initiates patient set-up, maintains monitor equipment, runs rhythm strips and places in designated place in patient's record, and accurately identifies and reports arrhythmias.
  • Provides relief and assistance to the HUC as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment for patient care.
  • Uses and cares for equipment and supplies economically.
  • Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, age, cultural, and individual differences.
  • Contributes to the patient experience as evidenced by positive patient satisfaction score for the department/medical center and/or written customer compliments as well as consistent performance of purposeful rounding.
Work ExperienceMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification:
  • Must have current Florida certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant or EMT-B.
  • Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to speak/understand written and verbal instructions in the English language.
  • Ability to work in often stressful environment with patients/families at various ages and levels of understanding.
  • Ability to concentrate on multiple priority activities.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergent situations.
  • Successful completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Course preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
  • May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.
  • May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
  • May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
