- Operates electric welding apparatus to fabricate metal objects.
- Repairs broken or damaged metal objects as required in the maintenance.
- Cuts/torches and welds metal surfaces using various types of welding equipment.
- Performs welding process on various materials in the shop.
- Performs welding on a variety of materials/ ferrous and non-ferrous utilizing an even wider range of welding processes, such as FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and TIG (Tungsten Arc Welding).
- Welds in all positions with 7018 welding rods.
- Repairs broken or damaged metal objects as required in the maintenance
- Fabricates complicated structural assemblies.
- Welds skids and fabricate pipe stands, catwalks, etc.
- Operates various hand tools and associated shop equipment; prepare records and reports.
- Makes minor repairs to equipment used in the performance of assigned duties, keeping the equipment in safe and proper working condition.
- May direct other employees in the performance of assigned duties.
- Welds structural steel in all positions.
- Layouts, positions, aligns, and secures parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, flange line up pins, wrap arounds, center finders and rulers.
- Examines work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Clamps, holds, tack-welds, heat-bends, grinds or bolts components parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
- Performs other duties as required in higher or lower classifications as assigned.
- Ability to analyze problems, collect accurate data and draw valid conclusions.
- Basic proficiency operating personal computer.
- Ability to work independently and as a crew member.
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience using construction tools and equipment including air hammer, concrete saw, patent scaffolding, trench digging equipment, etc.
- Working knowledge of Oil and Gas Industry.
- Ability to keep company proprietary information confidential.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work successfully with a wide variety of people at different levels within the organization.
- Detail orientated with strong organizational skills.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience with pipeline welding highly preferred.
- Must qualify and maintain Welding Qualification Card AWS D1 (ASW- GMAW-FCAW).
- Written aptitude test, Hands-on welding test AWS D1 (ASW- GMAW- FCAW).
- Valid Driver’s License may or may not be required.
