Job Title: Microsoft SharePoint Engineer – Engineering Records and Document Management
Duration: 2 Years (Contract)
Location: Jersey City, NJ (Hybrid)Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly qualified Microsoft SharePoint Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert (SME) responsible for the architecture, design, and ongoing development of enterprise intranet and internal SharePoint-based tools. The role requires advanced expertise in SharePoint site/content architecture, UX/UI design, and governance, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) highly desirable.The engineer will collaborate closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to design intuitive, user-friendly portals and maintain internal SharePoint platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesSharePoint Architecture & DesignArchitect intuitive, user-friendly SharePoint environments with clear navigation, metadata models, and permissions.Organize and structure content to promote searchability and alignment with operational workflows.Design, develop, and maintain SharePoint Online intranet pages, libraries, and tools used across the organization.Apply UX/UI principles to enhance usability and visual appeal.Develop custom templates, layouts, and web parts using SharePoint Framework (SPFX).Design and implement applications and workflows in SharePoint Online and Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pages).Administration & MaintenanceMaintain and support internal SharePoint intranet portals and applications.Administer user access and permissions with role-based controls and auditability.Manage site collections, workflows, and libraries, including optimization and migration tasks.Troubleshoot issues, perform updates, and ensure security compliance.Support and enhance existing applications, workflows, and reports (SPFX apps, PowerShell scripts, Power Automate, Power BI, Infowise Forms, etc.).Assist with support tickets as part of the application helpdesk.Documentation & CollaborationProvide technical specifications and collaborate on accurate documentation of configurations, templates, and workflows.Create training materials and user guides to encourage adoption and self-service.Partner with stakeholders and analysts to gather requirements and refine content strategies.Share best practices via team knowledge sessions and presentations.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Communications, or related field.3+ years of progressive experience in SharePoint Online site design, development, and architecture.Hands-on experience with intranet site development, metadata, templates, and permissions.Proficiency with SPFX, PowerShell, and SharePoint administration tools.Strong understanding of UX/UI design principles.Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe Acrobat Pro).Required Soft SkillsStrong attention to detail and user-focused mindset.Ability to balance technical development with visual communication needs.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities.Strong collaboration skills to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).Familiarity with legacy tools such as OpenText and SharePoint Designer workflows.Experience in branding, content strategy, or digital communications.Prior experience in public agencies, utilities, or large organizations with content governance.Experience in process automation and business intelligence solutions.Portfolio or examples of SharePoint work (intranet designs, workflows, templates) strongly preferre
