Apple Fitness+ is a digital service designed to enrich the lives of our customers through a broad and inclusive range of trainer-led exercises, meditations, and audio programming. The Fitness+ Studio is a high volume, state-of-the-art 4K UHD multi-camera production and post production facility responsible for creating bespoke audio and video content. The multi-disciplinary Fitness+ Engineering team supports the day-to-day operations of the Fitness+ Studio. Their expertise spans broadcast video, lighting, robotic cameras, audio, systems, storage, and network engineering. Fitness+ is seeking a Studio Engineer to help support the hardware and software for our studio, post-production and delivery pipelines. Responsibilities range from providing on-the-spot support for the live studio to architecting and deploying new technology and workflows. Specialized expertise in modern, highly-automated production asset management pipelines and high-performance SAN storage & fibre channel networking is desired for this position.DescriptionThe Studio Engineer will be responsible for the on-demand support of the production and post production teams. This includes work with advanced production asset management (PAM) pipeline automation; high-performance fibre-channel SAN storage & networking infrastructure; cinema cameras and lenses; video and audio signal path; camera robotics; production lights and their control systems; fibre-channel SAN storage; and various software applications running across macOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems. The individual will be expected to effectively manage their time enabling the delivery of projects and tasks with relatively little delay. The position requires regular coordination with third party vendors for studio upgrades and equipment repair. Success in this role requires the ability to handle and accurately prioritize out-of-band requests to ensure the smooth operation of the studio and its production pipeline. The candidate must be open to working evening and weekend shifts as needed. • Experience in a technical support role for live, live-to-tape or post-production support position is essential. The candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Experience supporting modern production asset management (PAM/MAM) systems with a significant level of automation and complexity • Experience with designing, deploying, and managing multi-Petabyte Quantum StorNext SAN environments for high-throughput media workflows • Experience with designing, configuring, and troubleshooting Ethernet, Brocade Fibre Channel, and DLC networking infrastructures to ensure seamless SAN connectivity and data integrity This is a site-based role.Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent or relevant field experience
  • 5+ years providing technical support and troubleshooting of live and post production audio and video signal flows, workflows, protocols, and codecs in a live, live-to-tape or post production environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in administration and troubleshooting of macOS, Linux, and Windows. Open directory and SAML authentication services required.
  • Open to a flexible work schedule with possible weekends and off-hours work as required
Preferred Qualifications
  • “Can-do” attitude that thrives on collaboration and problem-solving in high-demand and fast-paced environments, including both leading the team in primary areas of expertise, while simultaneously gaining knowledge in new areas from other experts. Self-starter who can handle their own tasks and projects with little oversight from leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deploy large scale, high-performance SAN storage for media production pipelines highly preferred.
  • High-degree of familiarity and understanding of structured content-related & status metadata for the purpose of workflow automation and content related metadata management & delivery preferred.
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of studio broadcast equipment and infrastructure including switchers, cameras, routers, live audio consoles, wireless microphones, lighting, lighting consoles, communications systems, fiber-backs, displays, single and multi-mode fiber, ethernet and SMPTE311 connections preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency crafting and modifying technical drawings (AutoCAD highly preferred).
  • Experience designing, deploying and supporting systems wholly or partially deployed in public cloud environments, including hybrid and multi-region approaches preferred.
  • Ability to construct and install various video, audio, ethernet, fibre and control cabling preferred.
Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $72.14 and $108.43/hr, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
