Job Description:St. Andre Health Care is looking for a dedicated Housekeeping/Laundry Assistant to provide our residents with care and exceptional cleanliness and fresh laundry prepared and delivered with utmost respect and kindness.
  • Looking for a Full-time candidate, 37.5 hours a week
Your focus will be on the cleaning of our facility as well as for the laundering of our resident personal laundry, coordination of linens, and delivery of each to our residents to support comfort and overall well-being.Our focus will be on the wellness and overall well-being of YOU.As part of our Housekeeping/Laundry team at St. Andre, you will work in collaboration with other departments to enhance the lives of your residents while following the Mission and Core Values of our organization.***The rate of pay displayed reflects the beginning of the pay scale. At the time of an offer, determination of your offer will reflect your skills and experience as it relates to the position.***Requirements:The primary purpose of this job position is to perform housekeeping and/or laundry activities as a Facilities Department Associate in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines, best practices and regulations governing our facility. Assure that St Andre is maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and patient centered manner. Contribute to the philosophy, mission and goals of the organization (i.e. positive, friendly, patient centered, safety minded and respectful attitude).POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform day to day housekeeping and or laundry functions which will include receiving, stocking linen closets as well as delivering resident clothing. Laundry and housekeeping is responsible to adhere to “18” from sprinkler regulation. Mops will air dry only.
  • Communicate with Plant Operations Supervisor, Admissions or Nursing regarding discharges/admits daily. As applicable, housekeeping is responsible to check a “white board” several times a day to see if there are any emergent or unanticipated discharge cleanings.
  • Follow the “Discharge Checklist” to ensure optimal cleaning and sanitizing as well as room readiness. Turn in Discharge Checklist to Plant Operations Supervisor upon completion of room
  • Privacy (cubicle curtains) must be changed at resident discharge and whenever stained or soiled. Request that Maintenance assist as warranted.
  • Ensure that laundry area is clean, dusted and tidy at all times. Clean, polish furniture, fixtures, window sills, baseboard heaters, hand rails and behind fire doors, etc. in all areas of the floor you are assigned to.
  • Clean, wash, and sanitize bathrooms and fixtures in your assigned areas.
  • No trash or linen will be on floors and housekeeping will strive to provide an odor free environment.
  • Dry mop and clean floors daily utilizing microfiber single room system, including porch areas. Laundry will vacuum the Administration area, vacuum and dust the library as well as mop laundry area.
  • Clean walls, ceilings and tops of dressers and refrigerators by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Housekeeping and laundry associates will only use approved chemicals and approved methods of cleaning.
  • Ensure that appropriate PPE and cleaning methods are utilized for rooms where MRSA, VRE, C-diff and other possible infectious may exist.
  • Empty waste/trash from each room and office in your assigned areas. Reline containers with a clean trash liner along with extra bags inside container. Clean waste containers as needed.
  • Ensure that work areas are left clean and that equipment , tools, chemicals and housekeeping carts are properly stored and locked at all times.
  • Report burned out light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights call lights, phones, TV and remotes, broken outlets or windows to Maintenance immediately.
  • Report resident requests or complaints to Director of Plant Operations as quickly as possible. Ensure residents that we will do everything possible to remedy a less that optimal situation.
  • Leave your area and housekeeping carts well stocked and cleaned, ready to go for the next day.
  • Report any sign of insects to Plant Operations Supervisor or Maintenance immediately. Record event in Integrated Pest Control Manual located in Maintenance office.
  • Ensure that torn or inferior linen does not go back in to circulation. All residents must have stain free intact linen.
  • Follow St Andre's mission involving recycling and preventing wasteful use of products.
  • Housekeepers and Laundry Associates will remain cautious to not go beyond the scope of their duty or training with regards to assisting residents with meals, fluids or snacks. Housekeeping and laundry staff will communicate resident food related needs to nursing who will provide appropriate direction or permission to obtain an item.
SAFETY AND SANITATION/ENVIRONMENTAL:
  • Follow established standard and safety precautions in the performance of all duties and report all accidents or injuries (no matter how small) to Plant Operations Supervisor or Director of Human Potential immediately.
  • Report to the Plant Operations Supervisor or Supervisor any hazardous condition or equipment immediately.
  • Participate in all mandatory safety, chemical and dementia specific in-services.
  • Attend facility Associate Staff Meetings as mandated.
  • Use proper body mechanics and ladder safety.
  • Clean spills immediately. Always use sufficient “wet floor” signage.
  • Demonstrate proper use of chemicals and chemical containers at all times.
  • Participate in environmental, recycling and/or waste initiatives implemented in the facility.
