Position Summary:The Simulation Technician supports daily operations of the simulation labs by setting up, breaking down, and maintaining manikins, task trainers, and medical simulation equipment. This role ensures labs are clean, functional, and ready for clinical training.Working with a small team, including nurse educators, sim techs, and the Assistant Dean. The technician plays a key role in creating realistic learning environments. Strong troubleshooting skills, basic IT knowledge, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel are valuable assets.Position Key Accountabilities:Essential Functions
  • Operates and provides technical assistance with simulation and medical related audio-video systems.
  • Provides technical assistance, support and training to faculty, instructors, and staff in use of simulation and medical equipment, as necessary.
  • Conducts ongoing maintenance of all medical and simulation equipment, including cleaning, repairing, assuring that all equipment is maintained in good working order at all times.
  • Sets-up and take-down simulators, medical equipment, and supplies for all sessions. May participate in teaching-related activities.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and conduct routine inventory updates.
  • May obtain cadavers from the UT Human Structure facility, maintain records and transports to and from the laboratory and assist in preparing them. Maintains the cleanliness of the facility and equipment and assists users of the facility during training sessions.
  • Maintains current knowledge of simulation and medical equipment catalogs and operation manuals.
  • Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to make people feel comfortable and encourage participation from everyone.
Minimum Education:Associate's Degree in a related field required
May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement.Minimum Experience:2 years of related experience required
6 months previous experience in simulation lab preferredPhysical Requirements: Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.Security Sensitive: Security Sensitive: This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215Residency Requirement:Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
