NOTE: APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER 11:59 PM ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2025.SALARY: The prevailing salary for this position as established by Ordinance of the Council of the City of Cleveland is $24.97 - $31.45 per hour.EXAMINATION INFORMATIONEXPERIENCE EVALUATION: An experience evaluation consists of a quantitative evaluation of an Applicant's academic training and experience pertinent to the classification for which an examination is taken, based on the statement of experience as recorded on the candidate's application and on academic training based on required credentials.Examples of DutiesUnder supervision, assists in the operational management of the Cleveland Airport System's airfields and facilities to assure continuous safety and security compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Transportation and Security Regulations, in addition to all other applicable statutes, regulations, and requirements. Performs other job-related duties as required.Minimum QualificationsAssociate's Degree in Aviation, Airport Management, or related field from an accredited college or university required. (Substitution: One year of experience in an Airport Operations office or other air field operations-related experience and/or possession of a Private/Commercial Pilot Certificate may be substituted for each year of college education lacking.) Must successfully complete all applicable regulatory airfield Ground Vehicle Operator and Winter Operations training/assessments within probationary period and maintain corresponding airfield driving privileges throughout employment. NIMS and ICS certifications for General Employee tier and any assigned working groups must be completed within six months of employment and complete additional or refresher trainings as required. Valid State of Ohio Driver's License required. Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record. Must be able to type and be computer proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products. Must have excellent proved interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and ability to interact and represent the organization with airport tenants, state and federal authorities, other organizations, and the public on a professional level. Must successfully complete Transportation Security Administration (TSA) fingerprint-based criminal history records check and employment background check and Security Threat Assessment. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. Must be willing to work indoor and outdoor in all weather conditions in a 24-hour operation, including a non-standard work week. Must have the ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods of time on a frequent basis. Must have the constant ability to talk and hear. Must possess both near and far visual acuity and have the constant ability to talk and hear. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical drug test.Supplemental InformationNOTE: Minimum qualifications must be met as of the last day of the filing period unless otherwise stated.RESIDENCY CREDITIn accordance with the Ordinances of the City of Cleveland: A person who has had as his/her primary residence in the City of Cleveland for at least one year at the time of filing a Civil Service application, and desires to take an entry-level Civil Service examination, shall, if a passing grade on the written examination is attained, have ten (10) points added to his/her passing score. VETERANS' PREFERENCEVeterans' preference will be awarded, when applicable, to eligible veterans in accordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F and 4.40G.Proof of active service or a DD Form 214, must be presented to the Commission at the time of filing application for the examination in which credit is sought in order to qualify for veterans' credit. If the applicant has received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions that applicant shall receive an additional five (5) points added to their raw score on the examination; or ten (10) points are added to their raw score on the examination if applicant's supporting documentation indicates more than fifteen percent (15%) service connected disability.NOTE: Only DD Form 214 (long form) or an official armed service document indicating type of discharge or separation and the dates of active service will be accepted as proof of active service.We are an equal opportunity employer.
