- Design deliverables – Create artifacts across all fidelity levels, from sketches and wireframes to polished prototypes, incorporating AI-assisted design and code generation where appropriate.
- Design system implementation – Apply the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and reusable patterns across the portfolio, iterating with the design system team to improve shared components.
- Accessibility compliance – Ensure designs and code meet Section 508 and WCAG standards, maintaining inclusive, accessible user experiences.
- AI-assisted development – Use AI-powered IDEs (e.g., Copilot, Cursor) to analyze code, generate features, write tests, and debug, while reviewing outputs for quality.
- UI component development – Build accessible frontend components using modern frameworks, adhering to UX best practices, USWDS standards, and API guidelines.
- Testing & quality assurance – Write and maintain automated unit, integration, and accessibility tests for all deliverables.
- Frontend delivery in Agile – Contribute to performant, scalable applications, collaborating closely with teammates in a cross-functional Agile environment.
- Collaboration & workflow – Participate in pair programming, peer reviews, and retrospectives, incorporating lessons learned into continuous improvement.
- Product alignment – Ensure implementation matches design intent and communicate effectively with stakeholders to maintain shared understanding.
- 8+ years of experience as a UX Designer / Engineer or in a related role collaborating with digital product teams.
- 4+ years of professional frontend engineering experience with expertise in at least one modern technology stack.
- Proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools; strong understanding of human-centered design and interaction design fundamentals.
- Experience creating accessible user experiences compliant with Section 508 and WCAG standards.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to improve design and software outcomes.
- Portfolio showcasing user-centered design processes, native product design, and frontend implementation.
- Proven success collaborating in cross-functional teams using Agile practices.
- Adaptive, empathetic, collaborative, and proactive with strong communication skills.
- Must have lived and worked in the United States for 3 of the last 5 years; occasional travel may be required.
