DescriptionSummary ObjectiveThe purpose of this position is to coordinate the preparation of contract grant proposals for vendors. Ensure proposals are in accordance with grant funding source policies and criteria.This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
  • Explains and clarifies budget entries to auditors and examining and grant funding authorities.
  • Develops and implements grant policies and procedures.
  • Represents the department to grant funding agencies and the public to provide information and answer questions concerning grant programs, budget, activities and policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates the development and preparation of grant applications for funding including budgets, supporting documents and special reports.
  • Consults with departments to discuss grant budgets, operations and activities.
  • Monitors the grant accounting function including preparation of reports to funding agencies, and grant compliance.
  • Researches information and collects data on grant opportunities.
  • Provides technical assistance and instruction concerning grant report writing techniques, grant funding sources, and how to prepare progress reports to comply with approved grant requirements and evaluation procedures.
  • Researches accounting records to determine financial resources required to implement contract grant programs and submits recommendations for budget allocations.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum RequirementsMINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Education, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
  • Three (3) years of grant writing, grant accounting, grant administration, or finance experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
