Base Location: 30244 County Road 12 Elkhart IN 46514Huttig Building Products, a Woodgrain Company is a national distributor of building materials with a proud history of building America! Currently, we have multiple warehouses across the US and are committed to delivering quality molding and building products to our customers on times, every time. This role will be a mixture of Warehouse Worker (80%) and CDL A Driver (15-20%).WAREHOUSE WORKER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reads customer, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
  • Receives shipments by processing paperwork, checking contents, and moving materials from receiving areas to storage or to other designated areas using a forklift, hand truck, or rolling cart
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code
  • Compiles worksheets or tickets for customer specifications
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department
  • Marks materials with identifying information
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed and maintains inventory records
  • Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards
  • Uses computer to enter records and compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications
  • Performs daily cycle counts, locates and identifies inventory adjustments and errors.
  • Responsible for attending all safety training and meetings, being aware of and complying with up-to-date OSHA and company safety policy
  • Performs routine maintenance on tools used including cleaning and checking to ensure proper functioning, and notifying a supervisor of larger repairs or malfunctions
  • Other duties may be assigned
DRIVER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operates tractor/trailer in accordance with Company Policies, DOT Guidelines, and applicable traffic laws during the day or night and in various traffic and weather conditions.
  • Conducts and documents pre- and post-trip inspections on truck and trailer.
  • Responsible for securing cargo on trailer.
  • Makes product deliveries according to proper route and schedule as indicated on the manifest.
  • While at customer locations, the driver must open, close and secure trailer curtains and/or doors for the customer to unload product.
  • Ensure product accuracy and quality by visually inspecting product as it is unloaded from the trailer.
  • Obtains customer signatures on proof of delivery and submits to the dispatcher as required.
  • Clean and sweep truck and trailer as needed.
  • Operate and maintain a ‘Mobile Electronic Onboard Recording’ device.
  • Report truck, trailer, equipment, and material problems and/or damage, accidents, and traffic violations promptly to the appropriate company official.
  • Maintains a clean and professional appearance.
  • Attends departmental staff and safety meetings.
  • Must be able to pull a 175 Lb. trailer curtain open and closed at each stop as well as un-strap and re-strap to secure the remaining load
  • Must be able to obtain a new DOT certified medical card
WAREHOUSE WORKER QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or GED and one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurements, volume, and distance.
  • Might require forklift certification, depending upon branch requirements
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to understand branch and industry standards in identification, measurement, repairs, replacements, and modification of products.
DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS
  • 18 months verifiable interstate tractor trailer commercial driving experience within the last (3) years
  • No more than (2) moving violations within the past (3) years and no more than (3) within the past (7) years.
  • No Reckless driving; including but not limited to speeding 15+ MPH and/or leaving the scene of an accident in the past (3) years
  • Valid Class A CDL required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to feel, manipulate, or handle; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 75-100 pounds.
