Principal AI Mobile App DesignerLocation: Nashville, TN or REMOTEAs a Principal AI Mobile App Designer at Asurion, you’ll redefine how people get the most out of their technology—how they troubleshoot it, protect it, trade it in, and upgrade it when it’s time. You understand how to craft a service design with natural baton passing to an Asurion expert via voice, digital, in-store or in-home. Your work, the technology that powers it, and the experts who serve are what will create magical moments for customers.In this role, you’ll work across UX, UI, and interaction design, using your skills to make mobile experiences smarter, faster, and more emotionally attuned. You’ll collaborate with researchers to understand user behaviors and motivations. And you’ll partner with talented conversational designers, design systems leads, engineers, data scientists, and product leaders to deliver solutions that go beyond function—they provide daily value, simplify decisions, and build trust.You recognize that AI, if left unchecked, can confuse or frustrate customers. That’s why you design with care, ensuring each engagement adapts to the moment, respects the customer’s intent, and always feels human-first.At the heart of it all, you practice unreasonable hospitality by going beyond what's expected to serve people when it matters most. You’ll use design and AI together to make Asurion’s apps not just smarter, but kinder.What You’ll DoAI-Powered Mobile Experience Design
  • Design intuitive, responsive, and predictive mobile app experiences that support tech help, protection, trade-in, and upgrades.
  • Use AI to personalize app journeys, surface smart recommendations, and help customers make faster, more confident decisions.
  • Build dynamic UI and interaction flows that evolve based on behavior, context, and device data.
  • Apply adaptive design thinking to ensure experiences meet the user where they are—technically and emotionally.
Service Innovation Through AI & UX
  • Create intelligent flows that show how AI and human support can work together to deliver standout customer service.
  • Design mobile features that proactively identify issues, recommend actions, or celebrate milestones like upgrades and device optimization.
  • Ensure every design reflects Asurion’s voice and values—especially when handling sensitive or high-stress moments for users.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate with engineers, researchers, data scientists, and product leaders to bring advanced AI and ML capabilities into a user-friendly mobile format.
  • Present designs, ideas, and prototypes to stakeholders, helping teams rally around user-first product decisions.
  • Contribute to the mobile design system and ensure high-quality, scalable solutions across platforms.
  • Mentor designers and model a high standard of design excellence, curiosity, and customer empathy.

RequirementsEducation & Core Expertise
  • Background in User Experience, Interaction Design, Communication Design, HCI, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in mobile product design, with a portfolio of polished, high-impact, user-centered work.
  • Experience designing for complex mobile ecosystems and AI-enhanced features such as personalization, automation, or intelligent notifications.
Design Tools & Prototyping
  • Expertise in Figma, plus strong skills with prototyping tools like Framer, ProtoPie, or Principle.
  • Comfortable designing and prototyping adaptive UI, motion behaviors, and dynamic logic states.
AI Understanding
  • Familiarity with AI systems including recommendation engines, contextual logic, and LLM-based assistants.
  • Experience collaborating with data and engineering teams to shape AI-powered product behavior and design ethically.
Design Process & Methodology
  • Proven ability to lead end-to-end design work—from discovery and research to iteration and launch.
  • Strong grasp of mobile UX best practices, heuristics, and usability standards.
  • Confident using qualitative and quantitative data to inform and validate design decisions.
