- Lead the design, development, and deployment of APIs using Apigee Edge, Apigee X, and Apigee Hybrid, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Architect, install, and manage the Apigee Hybrid runtime on Kubernetes (GKE, EKS, or OpenShift), including control plane integration, networking, and security configurations.
- Drive capacity planning and infrastructure sizing for Apigee Hybrid clusters based on projected API traffic, availability zones, and IP/CIDR allocations.
- Configure and manage API policies for traffic management, transformation, caching, and advanced security (e.g., OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, threat protection).
- Implement and enforce API governance standards, environment group strategies, and proxy design conventions.
- Support the full API lifecycle - from design and mocking to publishing, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and deprecation.
- Integrate with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) for API bundle deployments, shared flows, and environment-specific configuration promotion.
- Develop and maintain shared flows and reusable proxy patterns for authentication, logging, error handling, and traffic control.
- Monitor and troubleshoot platform issues using Kubernetes tools (kubectl, helm) and integrate with observability platforms (e.g., Cloud Ops, Prometheus, ELK).
- Collaborate with backend teams, security teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless API adoption and runtime stability.
- Provide technical leadership, documentation, and mentorship to development and platform engineering teams.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in API design and proxy development using Apigee Edge, X, and/or Hybrid.
- Solid understanding of REST, JSON, XML, and modern API security patterns (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, SAML/SSO).
- Experience deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes - with knowledge of pods, services, namespaces, helm, IP/CIDR planning, and cluster sizing.
- Proven experience working with DevOps and automation tools (e.g., Maven, Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Exposure to backend integration patterns with systems such as microservices, and legacy systems.
- Experience with Apigee Hybrid infrastructure setup on GKE, EKS, or OpenShift, including network design, high availability, and TLS configuration.
- Familiarity with Cassandra (for Apigee Hybrid runtime), cluster scaling strategies, and troubleshooting synchronization or runtime issues.
- Working knowledge of log management and observability solutions (e.g., Fluent Bit, Splunk, ELK, or Google Cloud Logging).
- Exposure to multi-region or hybrid cloud deployments, and knowledge of best practices around IP address planning and firewalling for hybrid environments.
- Understanding of developer portal integrations, API onboarding workflows, and developer experience strategies.
