Job Description:This position also has a matrix reporting line into the second line Operational Risk Management team. The role works closely with all three lines of defense to identify, assess, continuously monitor, and report on key risks. The Enterprise Business Risk Specialist is responsible for executing business unit responsibilities required by the various risk management programs that support the Rockland Trust Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework, including but not limited to, Issues Management, Incidents Management, Third Party Risk Management, Model Risk Management, Consumer Compliance and Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA). This role will also support business units in the maintenance of procedure and process documentation, and relationships with support functions including IT and Project Management. Results will be documented in the Archer governance, risk and compliance (GRC) system.Responsibilities:Responsibilities
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the risk management policies and programs that support the Rockland Trust ERM Framework
  • Partner with business unit leadership to identify and document the existing and emerging risks associated with business processes that could impact the achievement of strategic and operational objectives
  • Assist in maintaining the inventory of business unit processes, risks, and controls in the Archer GRC system
  • Support the testing and evaluation of control design and operating effectiveness for primary controls on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with the development of Key Performance and Key Risk Indicators, and emerging risk dashboard reporting for leadership
  • Maintain business unit procedures supporting operational processes
  • Collaborate across the three lines of defense and support the business unit in RCSAs and top-down risk assessments
  • Work closely with Vendors to obtain required documentation including but not limited to SOC reports, bridge letters, completed questionnaires, DR testing etc.
  • Manage business unit coordination for audit-related projects (e.g., annual internal/external audits and quarterly SOX audits); provide evidence and documentation as requested
  • Stay apprised of internal business processes, determine when changes impact the control environment and adjust accordingly to ensure compliance with company policies, programs and procedures
  • Act as a flexible resource for the supported business unit by developing an understanding of related operations in order to perform other ad hoc duties as required
  • Assist with Issues Management (self-identified and Audit); identify and document deficiencies in the system of internal control; design, document and monitor remediation activities
  • Assist with Incidents Management including root cause analysis and confirmation that corrective actions are taken
  • Participate in compliance related working groups to review new, revised, or upcoming regulations; determine business impact; assist with implementation and documentation updates for compliance risk assessments and any necessary changes to the control environment
Qualifications:Required Skills/Experience
  • Must be a detailed-oriented, organized, flexible individual with strong interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and organizational skills
  • Must have a strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks on a continual basis
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships across the organization to facilitate collaboration with all levels
  • Ability to utilize tools, techniques and processes for gathering and reporting data
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be self-motivated and show initiative in learning new opportunities
  • Proven ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Prior experience with risk and control frameworks, methodology or testing a plus
  • Strong qualitative, quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to independently complete work when needed, while collaborating with others at all levels across the organization and the three lines of risk defense
  • Process improvement, advisory and continuous learning mindset
  • Prior experience in Risk Management, Audit, or Compliance at a bank similar in asset size to, or larger than, Rockland Trust a plus
  • Prior experience with operational processes (including Commercial and Consumer) a plus
  • Prior experience utilizing a GRC system comparable to Archer a plus
  • Prior knowledge and experience with regulation, including assessing compliance with banking regulations, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), a plus
