Job Title: Children's Painting InstructorDepartment: Center for Family LifeReports to: Rachel Alter, Director of School Age ProgramsFLSA Status: Non-ExemptDate: 4/1/24Job Overview:The Center for Family Life seeking an experienced, highly creative, passionate, and reliable arts educator to lead after-school painting classes for children ages 6-8 years. Candidates should be knowledgeable about a variety of painting techniques, styles, and execution, with a commitment to helping children develop their artistic skills and knowledge through hands-on inquiry.The ideal candidate will be passionate about educating children in the arts and a skilled communicator.This position will begin in September 2024.Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Create and implement an age-appropriate semester-long curriculum that progressively builds on elements and principles of design, painting techniques, color theory, and artistic expression.
  • Support and guide students during class activities, offering assistance and answering questions to foster their understanding and progress.
  • Set up and prepare materials for each class, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are readily available for students
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, enforcing safety rules and procedures related to the use of painting equipment and tools
Qualifications:
  • Prior relevant teaching experience
  • Knowledge of a variety of painting techniques, art styles, and terminology
  • Availability one or two weekday afternoons, between 3 and 6 pm
