Helix Aviation Academy, an academically distinguished charter school in North Baton Rouge, located at 7701 Plank Rd., is currently seeking a Kindergarten Teacher for the 2025-26 school year. We offer small class sizes, a beautiful environment and competitive salaries. Applicants must be degreed and teacher-certified or in a teaching certification program. Teachers are responsible for executing the mission and vision by ensuring that all students improve academically and demonstrate our core values. Teachers are responsible for providing high-quality, data-driven instruction and instructional support to all learners. They are responsible for collaborating with colleagues, including special education teachers, to ensure all students get the accommodations and modifications needed to master the standards. This is a full-time teaching position.Responsibilities
  • Implement state learning standards, Helix Aviation Academy Charter School curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
  • Learn, master, and deliver content and grade level curriculum, core content objectives, texts etc.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans one week in advance for feedback.
  • Implement formal and informal assessments to track each individual student's progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weekly.
  • Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work related tasks.
  • Implement our clear and consistent behavior management system and build a strong sense of community in the classroom.
  • Help shape and develop a school wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify.
  • Communicate students' progress with parents on a weekly basis.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and tact when dealing with children and parents.
  • Establish an enriching, safe, and clean classroom and fun outside environment.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Assess students' performance to ensure they are mastering age-appropriate skills.
  • Monitor children's interactions, and nurture cooperation, learning, and sharing.
  • Cooperate with administration and staff; team player!
  • Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school wide meetings and events.
  • Engage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and development.
  • Minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week.

Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years successful teaching experience. Possession of valid teaching certification (preferred but not required). Command of grades/subject specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation and feedback techniques.Understanding of and commitment to Helix Aviation Academy values.Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
