
Entry - Refractory Technician

- Aptitude to set or learn to set forms, mix, and pour refractory according to supplied specifications
- Ability to build and maintain refractory forms with supervision
- Operate and maintain large refractory mixes of various makes and models with training and supervision
- Must be able to adapt and problem solve in a fast paced work environment
- Measure, cut, and install high temperature insulation
- Weld refractory hangers per supplied drawings
- Completes assigned tasks efficiently and with an attention to detail and quality.

- Willingness to learn and elevate their skill level.

- Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical/trade school preferred
- 1+ years of experience in masonry, concrete finishing, or related field
- Previous work experience related to concrete finishing and masonry
- Basic knowledge of the basic concepts of refractory
- Basic knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions when dealing refractory and insulation
- Basic verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
- Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to work with peers and management in a positive team atmosphere
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
- Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, etc
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to hot and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
