Deputy Program ManagerCapstone Research Corporation is seeking to expand our team. Capstone Research Corporation is headquartered in Huntsville Alabama. Capstone offers 100% Company Provided Medical and Dental Insurance, Matching 401K, and Profit Sharing as part of our top-notch benefits package.We have an immediate opening for a Deputy Program Manager with an engineering background who will support Missile Defense Agency and Army Aviation and Missile Command in Colorado Springs, CO. This position combines technical expertise with program management skills to oversee the successful execution of complex defense projects. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong technical foundation who excels in coordinating projects and delivering mission-critical solutions. Salary for this position will be determined based on the candidate's experience and education.Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage engineering expertise to provide technical guidance, review designs, and ensure solutions meet DoD specifications and standards (e.g., MIL-STD, ITAR).
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot technical issues, propose solutions, and ensure alignment with project goals and customer requirements.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedules, budgets, milestones, and modifications to meet DoD contract requirements and deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for DoD clients, government program offices, and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of project status, risks, and issues.
  • Assist PM with allocating and overseeing resources, including personnel, equipment, and subcontractors, to ensure efficient project execution within budget constraints.
  • Assist PM to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including technical, schedule, and cost-related challenges, escalating critical issues to senior leadership as needed.
  • Experience writing status reports, performance metrics, white papers, concept of operations, requirement documents, risk assessments, and briefs to senior leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD regulations and security protocols (e.g., FAR, DFARS).
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM. Master's Degree or MBA is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in engineering, preferably in a DoD or government contracting environment.
  • 2-3 years of experience in program or project management, with a proven track record of delivering technical projects, preferably for DoD clients.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles relevant to DoD programs (e.g., systems engineering, software development, or hardware integration).
  • Familiarity with DoD systems, platforms, or technologies
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, or Primavera).
  • Work well with a team construct with a desire for more leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on detail and process discipline.
  • Active Secret clearance; Top-Secret security clearance preferred
  • Preferred: CAPM or equivalent; DAWIA certification (Level II or higher in Program Management or Systems Engineering).
  • Preferred: Experience with Python, C++, MBSE, and AFSIM
