- Assist with classroom coverage as an assistant and float between classrooms as necessary to ensure compliance.
- Support the Lead Teacher and/or Assistant in the implementation of classroom lesson plans that reflect the approved curriculum. Wonderspring uses The Creative Curriculum.
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children, be alert to the needs of children as individuals and as a group as outlined in the Wonderspring Supervision of Children and Child ID policies.
- Maintain a professional and positive demeanor while interacting with children, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Teach children how to use acceptable alternatives to challenging behaviors to reduce conflict by using provided techniques such as FLIP IT and Second Step.
- In conjunction with lead teacher, observe children in the program throughout the year by recording observations, anecdotes, checklists, and other methods.
- Assist with providing a clean and organized classroom environment. Encourage children to engage in housekeeping activities by guiding them to store their toys and supplies in designated areas.
- Support the classroom teachers in maintaining a stimulating, aesthetically and educationally appealing room décor (display of children’s work, arrangement of bulletin boards, placement of books, science materials, etc.).
- Teachers in programs participating in CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) must follow additional serving and preparation procedures, including implementing family-style serving.
- Engage in Wonderspring staff meetings, attend in-services, external training programs, and actively participate in center events to foster professional development, collaboration, and a cohesive team environment.
- High School Diploma/GED, CDA preferred.
- Minimum of 2,500 verified hours in childcare
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with parents/guardians.
- Ability to maintain high level standards of confidentiality regarding center, staff, and family matters.
- Knowledge and understanding of DHS licensing, Keystone Stars, and accreditation requirements.
- Ability to relate well in a multicultural cultural classroom environment.
- Basic Proficiency in Microsoft Word Office or Google Suite
