Our client, an established custom equipment manufacturer in Ft Wayne, IN has an immediate job opening for an Engineering Manager. In this role you will be responsible for leading and supervising a team in the design of custom automation solutions from concept to release. This position is responsible for leading a team of Mechanical Designers, Engineer and Controls Engineers. You will lead the on-time completion of designs of machines to approved concepts, layout models, detailed drawings, and bills of material.Responsibilities:Plan, direct and budget engineering department
Develop, implement and monitor engineering procedures and standards.
Manage a team of Mechanical Designers, Engineers and Electrical Control Engineers.
Train mechanical designers in the use of SolidWorks.
Work with customers on the design of custom equipment.
Review customer specifications, read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and reports.
Create concepts, designs and modify existing designs to create new custom machines.
Perform advanced analyses and calculations.
Create, revise & check assembly drawings, detailed drawings & BOMs.
Perform machinery testing and debugging, complete testing checklists.
Create and revise technical manuals & documentation.
Maintain and update R&D design book.Requirements:Highly proficient with SOLIDWORKS
5 years of Engineering Management experience
Masters degree in Engineering or equivalent.
Ability to make critical design decisions.
Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting skills.
In-depth knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic components and popular manufacturers.
Knowledge of electronic equipment including electrical automation controls, motor & drive types, sensors.
Experience with stress and Finite Element analysis.
