As a Mechanical Engineer on the RF Systems and Solar Arrays team, you will play an exciting role in developing lightweight, high-performance deployable structures for spacecraft. This role is open to early career engineers or recent graduates. Our ideal candidate will have some industry-related mechanical engineering experience, preferably with solar arrays, RF antennas, and/or composites. In this dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to support various stages of the project lifecycle, from early ideation to assembly and flight validation.Responsibilities:
- Support the design and analysis of structural components and deployable systems through initial ideation, prototyping, qualification, and production
- Create CAD assemblies (SolidWorks), build documentation, and other mechanical drawings
- Provide hands-on support for assembly and integration of hardware in a clean room environment
- Test and validate structural components and designs for flight readiness
- Iterate and prototype designs frequently, characterizing performance and documenting results
- Collaborate with production and analysis teams to meet project goals: adhering to quality standards, budgets, and timelines
- Exercise the ability to quickly adapt, pivot, and offer creative solutions to unforeseen challenges
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related discipline; MS preferred
- Preferably 1-3 years of industry experience, specifically with spacecraft design, solar arrays, or RF antennas
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving in engineering
- Understanding of GD&T and standard analysis practices
- Fluency in CAD, preferably SolidWorks
- Strong organizational and communication skills (oral, written, and presentation)
- Team-oriented with the ability to be a self-starter and work independently
- Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)
- US citizen or permanent residen
- Salary range of $72,000 - $100,000, based on experience and qualifications
- Flexible and hybrid work schedules: 9/80 or 10/80 schedules, with two or more days in office
