- Develop process budget and schedule as part of the proposal process by analyzing the Request For Proposal (RFP) (or equivalent).
- Define the process scope, including a basis of estimate (assumptions, inclusions, exclusions, exceptions, clarifications).
- Author proposal sections relevant to process design.
- Act as Merrick’s representative to clients, regulatory agencies, and other external project stakeholders where appropriate.
- Determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
- Analyze feed, product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine appropriate designs and processes.
- Provide technical information concerning processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range engineering planning.
- Confer with Technical Lead to clarify or resolve problems and develops design.
- Lead a team of process engineers to develop or directly prepare process design deliverables including:
- Mass and Energy Balances
- Process Flow Diagrams
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
- Equipment sizing calculations
- Process line sizing calculations
- Equipment datasheets
- Participate as the process representative in process hazard analysis (PHA) evaluations of the safety and operability of designs.
- Review and check the work of other process engineers to determine accuracy and completeness. Reviews the work of other engineering disciplines to determine compliance with process requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program.
- Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in refinery and/or hydrocarbons processing design and operations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Candidates for this position must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier.
- Professional Engineering license (PE) in Oklahoma or Colorado.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Experience with Aspen HYSYS and Aspen Plus.
