
Data Management Leader - Remote

- Oversee the creation, maintenance, and accuracy of item master data, product structures, and BOMs in our systems.
- Partner with Sales and product leaders to confirm expected product lines are available for sale and accurately priced.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure product designs and structures are accurately reflected in our systems.
- Work with purchasing to ensure items are properly identified, sourced, ordered, and managed efficiently.
- Coordinate with operations to ensure item availability and proper usage in production and inventory.
- Serve as a single point of accountability for product revision control, collaborating with all stakeholders to balance old revision inventory disposition and new product revision availability
- Facilitate information sharing between departments for cross-functional activities like demand forecasting and quality management.
- Act as the primary liaison between engineering, purchasing, sales, and operations teams to manage item and product lifecycles.
- Ensure new product introductions (NPIs) are accurately documented and tracked through their lifecycle.
- Drive continuous improvement in item management processes by identifying and addressing inefficiencies.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of items, from initial creation through changes, obsolescence, and replacement.
- Ensure that item data is up-to-date and accurately reflects the latest product and engineering specifications.
- Monitor item performance, usage, and lifecycle stages to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.
- Maintain and improve item and product management systems (ERP, MRP, PLM, CPQ, etc.).
- Ensure data integrity across systems by ensuring the right data connections are established and performing regular audits of item and product records.
- Generate reports and insights on item usage, performance, and lifecycle status for leadership review.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for item and product management processes.
- Implement and support data change management processes, including item revision management and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards for product data management.
- Lead training efforts on best practices with critical stakeholders (product managers, finance teams, procurement analysts, etc).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Data Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience) - Master's degree a plus.
- Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in product data management, inventory management, or a related role.
- Experience managing teams of direct reports.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, purchasing, and operations.
- Proficient in using ERP, MRP, and PLM systems for item and product management.
- Strong understanding of BOMs, product lifecycle management (PLM), and change control processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of product financial considerations (costing, cost roll-ups, pricing, discounting).
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
