Job Title: Inverter Modeling and Hardware Testbed Experiments Student EngineerLocation: Knoxville, TNJob Summary and Description:This is an internship position for a student to support an R&D project related to the development of a hardware testbed with programmable inverters.Looking for a student who can work in the 2025 fall semester/quarter (August-December).The student will support the EPRI team by:a) developing grid forming (GFM) and grid following (GFL) inverter models in electromagnetic transients (EMT) simulation toolsb) programming inverter microcontrollers c) conducting laboratory experiments on a hardware testbedQualifications:Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering required2 years of PhD studies (preferred)Ideal Candidate:Electrical engineering Ph.D student with emphasis on power systemsStrong experience with inverter controlsStrong experience with microcontroller programming (preferably Texas Instruments C2000)Strong experience with electromagnetic transients simulation tools (preferably PSCAD and Simulink)Strong programming skills (preferably Python and Matlab)The hourly rate range for Student positions are:
Undergraduate: $16-29 per hour
Masters: $25-31 per hour
Ph.D: $27-34 per hour
These ranges are an estimate, and the actual hourly rate may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
