Your focus will be on low-level planning, migration/grooming activities, and operational support — helping to modernize legacy telecom infrastructure with minimal customer disruption.Areas & ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for experienced SDH/SONET/DWDM Project / Tactical Planning Engineers in the Colorado , Texas, Illinois, Ohio, Indianapolis areas of the US, United Kingdom. The successful candidates will have worked on large scale deployment and migration projects to join our team on a 12-month fully remote project.The Tactical Planning Engineer must have the ability to design and execute solutions to enable migration of SDH or DWDM services residing on Legacy products to strategic technologies and platforms.
Develop and execute low-level migration and grooming plans (MOPs)
Design tactical solutions for transitioning legacy SDH/DWDM services
Conduct circuit audits and inventory assessments
Perform access tail/vendor audits and data analysis
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (Fibre, DWDM, IP, Field)
Plan new TDM/SDH paths over existing capacity
Plan new Gig/10G/100G paths over DWDM infrastructure
Identify capacity requirements and site-specific solutions
Ensure compliance with company policies (Quality, Health & Safety, Environment, Information Security)
Respond to reasonable ad hoc requests aligned with role capabilities
Skillset & Attributes
Strong understanding of SDH, SONET, DWDM, and OTN principles
Understanding of IP Networks
Experience with circuit and inventory audits
Proficiency in data analysis and migration strategy development
Ability to articulate detailed MOPs for migration activities
Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Familiarity with Pro Inventory systems (preferred)
