- Analyzes information and data to perform routine design tasks.
- Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
- Research design options and document findings.
- Responsible as a member of the design team for accuracy of engineering design and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.
- Research code requirements.
- Prepare environmental impact and other administrative reports required for project permits.
- Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule, scope or additional services.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing current professional publications; establishing professional networks; and participating in professional societies.
- Assist or participate in the preparation of project proposals and other business development efforts.
- May be asked to participate in non-design engineering activities such as construction inspection and materials testing, surveying, CADD production, and field data collection.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with emphasis on highway design, traffic and transportation engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure for the State of Illinois required
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
- Minimum 3+ years progressively responsible experience as a Transportation Engineer or similar position
- Demonstrate familiarity with ISTHA/IDOT policies, roadway design and plan preparation, and construction engineering
- Must have experience with MicroStation design software
- Experience with Geopak SS4/3D experience with modeling, cross sections and SUDA a plus
- Qualified candidate must have a good work history and possess a valid driver's license to use company-owned vehicles to travel to project locations, perform field work, or attend off-property meetings
- Competitive starting salary ranging from $85,000 to $110,000, based on experience and qualifications
