Serve as the principal architect for all technical solutions involving OnePay, including the design, integration, and ongoing support of mission-critical APIs and partner interfaces.API Reliability and Resilience:
Architect, implement, and continuously improve API strategies to ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and consistency for OnePay-related services. Lead root-cause analysis and proactive reliability enhancements tailored to OnePay’s business transactions.Partner Integration:
Collaborate cross-functionally with OnePay’s product and engineering teams to define and deliver E2E technical integrations, including authentication, data exchange protocols, and workflow handoffs between Synchrony and OnePay. Recommend and implement integration patterns to maximize business process continuity and data integrity.Solution Design & Governance:
Evaluate OnePay’s current and future integration needs; translate requirements into scalable platform solutions aligned with enterprise standards and OnePay’s SLAs and regulatory obligations.Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as the technical point of contact for all OnePay-specific projects, providing clear and actionable insights to Synchrony and OnePay stakeholders, including product managers, C-level executives, and external vendor teams.Mentorship & Enablement:
Mentor and coach multiple Agile development teams (including partner teams) delivering on OnePay initiatives, ensuring alignment with architectural guidelines and quality standards throughout the SDLC.Technology Selection & Innovation:
Assess and recommend technologies (APIs, integration platforms) fit for the OnePay partnership, balancing architecture best practices, enterprise constraints, and OnePay’s business objectives.Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process automation and reliability engineering in all OnePay integrations; promote API-first design, monitoring, and robust error-handling strategies.Code Management & Repository Setup:
Establish, configure, and maintain code repositories specific to OnePay projects, ensuring best practices for version control, code organization, access management, and secure collaboration between Synchrony and OnePay development teams.Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.Qualifications / Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field AND at least 7 years’ experience across multiple IT areas OR 10 years’ application development experience (in lieu of degree)Minimum 5 years full-stack development using Spring (Spring Boot), Java EE, RESTful APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and modern UI frameworksAt least 3 years’ experience with Junit, Jmeter, Postman or comparable testing toolsAt least 2 years’ hands-on experience with React JS, Angular JS, Node.js or similar frameworksAt least 2 years’ experience on Pivotal Cloud Foundry, AWS, or similar PaaSAt least 2 years’ Apigee or comparable API platform experience; demonstrated experience managing production APIs and troubleshooting integration issues with external partnersPrior hands-on responsibility for large-scale partner integrations—with direct management of cross-company initiatives preferredDemonstrated communication skills (written and verbal) to engage with OnePay’s business/technical stakeholdersDesired Characteristics:Strong working knowledge of the fintech/payments landscape, ideally with direct integration experience for consumer financing or payment partners like OnePayDeep experience with service-oriented and event-driven architecturesDemonstrated Agile methodology experience (Scrum, Kanban)Critical thinking, creativity, and a solution-driven mindsetProven record building, deploying, and supporting cloud-based applicationsStrong familiarity with API gateways and best practices for secure, scalable & reliable API deploymentsExperience developing and supporting secure mobile solutions (native and mobile web)Grade/Level: 11The salary range for this position is 115,000.00 - 200,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.Eligibility Requirements:You must be 18 years or olderYou must have a high school diploma or equivalentYou must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding processYou must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.
