
Transmission Substation Remote Access and Compliance Engineer

- Provide technical support for the Intelligent Electronic Device Management System (IEDMS) and database used for remote access management of Transmission/Metering Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) at the Transmission substations.
- Perform and support the password management for Transmission/Metering IEDs, including RTUs, port servers, clocks, relays, DFRs, and meters.
- Troubleshooting communication to SCADA and Remote Access systems for Transmission/Metering IEDs including break/fix activities and interfacing with vendors
- Provide operational support, ensuring production systems and devices are online and available; this includes non-business hours on-call support
- Developing and troubleshooting RTU Configurations and assisting the OTSS SCADA Team with Transmission field device SCADA checkouts.
- Perform and conduct new equipment testing including relays, meters, line sensors, IEDs.
- Train new contractors and employees on the field devices and applications utilized in OTSS work
- Participate and assist with audits, process improvements and corrective actions associated with CIP compliance for Transmission/Metering field devices which OTSS supports.
- Analyze user processes and requirements to identify potential improvements
- Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing
- Provide customer support and services for problems reported via service tickets. Primary customers include personnel from TCCs, DOCs, LBA, Entergy field relay, and 3rd party field relay (SHECO, CLECO, TVA, etc.)
- Participate in the team 24 hour on-call rotation
- Effectively collaborate with teammates in a virtual environment to provide project support, receive training, provide training, project collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Support the design, development, and testing of real time systems applications and enhancements
- Understand client business needs & objectives
- Demonstrated track record of relevant technology delivery
- Define and adhere to company processes and procedures used to comply with numerous industry standards. Compliance related workload has grown significantly and is forecasted to continue to create additional workload.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (Preferred) or related Technical degrees and equivalent experience
- IT Specialist I: 0 - 2 years working with SCADA/RTU assets at an operation center, generation site, engineering department, or related experience
- IT Specialist II: 2+ years working with SCADA/RTU assets at an operation center, generation site, engineering department, or related experience
- IT Specialist Sr: 4+ years working with SCADA/RTU assets at an operation center, generation site, engineering department, or related experience
- Experience with the design, development, and/or testing of real-time system applications and enhancements
- Proven track record of understanding business objectives and supporting business needs
- Proven track record of relevant technology delivery
- Experience with NERC CIP requirements is a plus
- IT Consultant: 6+ years working with SCADA/RTU assets at an operation center, generation site, engineering department, or related experience
- Experience with the design, development, and/or testing of real-time system applications and enhancements
- Proven track record of understanding business objectives and supporting business needs
- Proven track record of relevant technology delivery
- Experience with NERC CIP requirements is a plus
- Experience with basic coding and scripting is a plus
- Experience with databases for applications is a plus
- Experience with IT services is a plus (Software Maintenance, VM Server Knowledge)
- Ability to support real-time systems
- Knowledge of RTU configurations
- Knowledge of Site Alarm Edit Sheets and SCADA system
- Knowledge of Transmission Substation Protection/Data Acquisition Equipment
- Knowledge of utilizing substation design drawings
- Knowledge of the operation of the electric power and/or generation systems
