Ensures campus fire alarm, security, and building automation equipment related to life safety is operational in order to support the academic mission of the campus. The position applies trade knowledge and skills to operate, maintain, install, inspect, diagnose, and repair campus fire suppression, fire alarm, security and critical alarm equipment per federal, state, and local fire protection and safety codes, rules and regulations. This position provides operation and maintenance services that are cost effective and adequate to achieve the optimum building system design and life expectations.
Essential Job Functions: Life Safety Technical Consultant:
  • Provide technical expertise for the Life Safety Services Shop within the Operations & Services Department of the Facilities Services Division.
  • Ensures campus Life Safety and Building Automation equipment is available to support the academic mission of the campus.
  • Provides operations and maintenance services that are cost effective and adequate to achieve optimum operational expectations for all building related systems.
Supervision and Work Order Management:
  • Supervises other Electronics Specialist and supporting staff as needed including daily and weekly assignments and associated time tracking.
  • Develops maintenance plans and procedures to be implemented in the work order control system and/or campus wide policies and procedures.
  • Reviews TMA system reports to ensure the daily time records, corrective work orders and preventative maintenance work orders are correct and completed in a timely manner.
Automated Life Safety System Maintenance
  • Operates, monitors, and maintains the computer workstation control system related to campus life safety systems located in Facilities Services and monitored by the Auraria Campus Police Department.
  • Performs or subcontracts all related duties associated with this system; including system installations, updates, programming, testing and repairs.
  • Test and updates workstation alarm point information to ensure end user emergency contact and alarm point location is accurate in order to facilitate appropriate response.
Other:
  • Support other departments, shops, and campus users with other duties as assigned including but not limited to snow removal, project support, events support, and emergency response.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Life Safety programs is required. Your application must clearly detail experience in one or more of the following areas: Hazardous Materials, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Preparedness, or Fire and Life Safety.
  • Must possess a valid unrestricted Colorado driver's license at the time of application.
OR
  • A combination of related education of related education and/or relevant experience in Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Safety programs equal to three (3) years.
Preferred Qualification:
  • Additional years of previous Facilities Maintenance experience, beyond the required 3 years of experience noted is preferred - please list on your application if you have this experience.
