- Develop and implement a comprehensive government relations strategy aligned with the business objectives of the cement company.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments affecting the cement industry and provide timely insights to the executive team.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with government officials, agencies, and key stakeholders.
- Represent the company at relevant industry forums (PCA Government Relations Committee), conferences, and meetings to ensure a strong presence and influence in the regulatory environment.
- Ensure the Ash Grove’s compliance with local, state, and federal regulations affecting the cement industry.
- Work closely with legal and compliance teams to interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to internal stakeholders.
- Advocate for policies that support the growth and sustainability of the cement industry.
- Address and resolve regulatory issues that may impact the company's operations.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to effectively convey the Ash Grove’s positions on regulatory and legislative matters.
- Engage in proactive outreach to educate government officials and the public about Ash Grove’s contributions to the community and the economy.
- Identify and assess potential risks related to regulatory and government affairs, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Stay informed about geopolitical and regulatory changes that may impact the cement industry.
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Political Science, Business, Law, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years' experience in the field of federal government relations or government experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
- Previous corporate government affairs or legislative experience, with experience advocating on behalf of a business.
- In-depth experience with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Travel up to 25%
