- Lead a cross-functional risk team in achieving organizational risk management goals.
- Direct all aspects of property and casualty insurance programs, including renewals and coverage optimization.
- Oversee claims management across workers' compensation, auto, liability, and property lines.
- Identify potential exposures and develop effective mitigation strategies and loss control measures.
- Drive the implementation of safety programs, business continuity planning, and emergency recovery initiatives.
- Lead and actively participate in safety committee meetings, supporting continuous improvement.
- Review and enhance risk policies, training, and compliance procedures.
- Draft and present risk reports, trends, and proposals to executive leadership.
- Serve as the organization’s primary liaison with insurance carriers, brokers, legal counsel, and external vendors.
- Monitor legal, regulatory, and industry developments affecting risk and compliance.
- Provide leadership in complex claims, escalated risk issues, and compliance matters.
- Foster a proactive culture of risk awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement across all departments.
- Claims Management Specialist – Manages insurance claims administration and resolution.
- Health and Safety Specialist – Leads safety programs and supports risk mitigation strategies.
- Insurance Administrator – Oversees insurance renewals and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in commercial insurance, risk management, underwriting, brokerage, claims management, and risk mitigation, with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with external insurance vendors.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills to identify and mitigate risk trends.
- Certifications: OSHA, safety, and environmental health certifications.
- Industry-Specific Certifications: Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), or CLCU, Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM)
- Industry experience: Human or social services.
- Leadership & Team Development: Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop a team, including onboarding and guiding three newly hired team members.
- Workplace Safety & Compliance: Deep understanding of occupational safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA), with experience implementing injury prevention strategies and safety protocols.
- Strategic Risk Management: Oversight of a comprehensive, multi-state risk program supporting operations across 15 states and serving over 7,000 employees and individuals.
- Adaptability & Problem Solving: Skilled at managing shifting priorities and regulatory changes with resilience, flexibility, and a proactive mindset.
- Financial & Analytical Acumen: Strong command of risk evaluation, budgeting, and financial oversight of insurance programs and related expenditures.
- Communication & Critical Thinking: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information, present data-driven insights, and solve problems effectively.
- Influence & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to engage, align, and collaborate with stakeholders across departments and geographies, driving risk initiatives that support Dungarvin’s mission and operational goals.
