This team is focused on products, solutions, platform / enabling capability development, product development lifecycle, engineering excellence and connectivity to Optum Technology.An individual in the Architecture job family is a strategic resource for UnitedHealth Group. This individual could be involved across many aspects of architecture, design, build, engineering and implementation of technical solutions and capabilities providing technical leadership. Responsible for communicating overall architecture vision, technical strategies, and trade-offs across various levels in the organization to gain buy-in. Will provide recommendations and technical guidance to improve performance, reliability, and reusability within the constraints of budget, resource and business dependencies. In base and mid-level roles, engages across teams in a capacity that ranges from assisting on in-flight initiatives, up to technical briefings and demonstrations of new technologies across the organization. In senior level roles, leads business solutions, capabilities, and is a strong influencer that engages with client executives and stakeholders.You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Integrate enterprise-approved AI tools into team workflows
  • Build AI goals into check-ins and development plans, and align hiring practices with our AI-persona framework
  • Identify and remove organizational and operational barriers to accelerate AI implementation
  • Gathers details and facts to assist team in clearly defining problem and opportunities for improving highly complex problems
  • Identifies both internal and external customer experience impacts and develops persona's to represent those impacts and customer needs. Ties problems to persona needs
  • Leverages network of resources both inside and outside the company as additional source of facts/data and knowledge
  • Pro-actively identifies patterns in issues and research root-cause to provide better clarity in defining highly complex problems
  • Assists in defining Business/Product Strategy and assessing the Value/Outcome business is trying to achieve
  • Strong knowledge on customer’s product roadmap and linking defined problems to roadmap priorities
  • Articulates problems with written and verbal communication as well as presentation materials to team members and immediate leadership
  • Identifies cause and effect relationships between known and unknown variables
  • Breaks complex topics into meaningful chunks of information - assesses relevancy, eliminates noisy information, corroborates from multiple sources
  • Facilitates product capability strategy, and supports product capability strategic architecture planning and transformation
  • Demonstrate understanding of the product capability by producing detailed architecture artifacts that support the top-level designs provided by Sr-level Architects in accordance with standards and guidelines
  • Works with the delivery teams to identify technical debt and address in the product roadmap
  • Designs and deliver solutions that align with enterprise architecture standards and advances the architecture toward the target state
  • Collaborate with the business and engineering stakeholders by clearly identifying scope, application impacts & sizing
  • Produces solutions options and design models with moderate complexity that connect multiple product domains and technologies
  • Articulates trade-offs with enterprise standards staying connected with engineering reality
  • Demonstrates Agile architecture by adapting quickly to the changing requirements of customer and provides solution recommendations from existing blueprints
  • Demonstrates expert understanding of the technology stack for software components within multiple capabilities
  • Research and recommend changes to the tech stack as part of modernization efforts

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent of 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • 5 + years of experience as an enterprise or solutions architect in matrixed environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possesses moderate understanding and knowledge of healthcare and regulatory environment - and the corresponding technology applications for several product capabilities and one or more lines of business
  • Progressive leadership movement throughout career

The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment.
