- Performs repairs and upgrades on electronic traffic monitoring and communication equipment
- Trains office personnel on the use of equipment
- Researches new traffic monitoring equipment
- Isolates failed traffic monitoring devices, repairs, and bench tests equipment to ensure proper operation
- Trains personnel on traffic monitoring equipment hardware and software and ensures they understand before deploying to the field
- Trains personnel on the use of field test equipment
- Field coordination
- Reviews the list of failed traffic, and monitoring sites and determines what action needs to be taken
- Leads the construction crew in the absence of the field technician
- Travels statewide to troubleshoot recurring field problems
- Liaisons with equipment vendors to research, purchase, and resolve problems with monitoring equipment
- Works with vendors to resolve problems
- Skilled in the use of electronic test equipment
- Skilled in the use of personal computers and various software programs
- Able to communicate complex principles of electronic equipment operations to personnel with limited background in the field
- May work in extreme weather and involve heavy lifting
- Works at heights of 40 feet and below out of a bucket or lift truck

- Temporary employees accepting a full-time permanent position
- Acceptance of a permanent full-time non-exempt/exempt position posted for public recruitment
- Current employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been opened to the public
- One year of service to WYDOT must be completed; failure to complete this requirement will forfeit the hiring incentive. Funds will be recouped from final pay
- Internal candidates would be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from their promotion date
- Employees would only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period
- If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period, they would be required to pay the bonus back.
