- Provide day-to-day technical and regulatory oversight of the laboratory
- Ensure compliance with CLIA and NYS DoH regulations and standards
- Verify test procedures and monitor performance criteria, including accuracy and precision
- Enroll and participate in proficiency testing programs
- Maintain and employ the quality control program
- Resolve technical problems and ensure corrective actions are taken
- Identify training needs and ensure regular in-service training for testing personnel
- Evaluate the competency, proficiency, and confidence of all testing personnel
- Oversee the process of collection, preparation, and submission of testing to external partner labs
- Prepare samples and perform waived and moderate complexity testing
- Maintain inventory and interact with purchasing and finance as needed
- Extensive documentation experience, including maintenance of records, the creation of forms and documents to support operations, and a record of review/audit experience
- Practiced and successful history of problem resolution through Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and Change Management
- Demonstrable capabilities as a bench tech in Hematology and Chemistry
- Deep understanding of test orders, requisitions, specimen preparation, accessioning, and data flows from LIMS to EMR
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Current NYS CLT license is required or able to be obtained.
- Certification with ASCP or similar is a preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Biological or Chemical sciences, Clinical Science, or related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in a CLIA certified high complexity testing laboratory.
