- Five years recent experience teaching math.
- Teaching experience at more than one grade-level.
- Proven results in improving student achievement in the area of mathematics.
- A deep level of understanding of the College and Career Readiness Standards of Mathematics including the Standards for Mathematical Practice.
- Evidence of success in working with adult learners.
- Evidence of strong interpersonal skills.
- Evidence of strong written communication and presentation skills.
- Evidence of strong planning and organizational skills.
- Evidence of successful leadership in mathematics content at a grade level, building level or district level.
- Experience in conducting mathematics staff development.
- Experience in mentoring/coaching teachers preferred.
- A strong commitment to team collaboration through Professional Learning Communities.
- Assist the secondary curriculum team, building principals and district staff in creating and implementing a district Mathematics Plan based on the College and Career Readiness Standards of Mathematics.
- Demonstrate exemplary math instruction for 6-12 teachers through the following researched-based practices: observation, coaching, model lessons, and collaborative lesson planning and small and large group professional development.
- Help provide common foundational mathematics training for all K-5 teachers (regular classroom, SPED, ESL, etc.).
- Assist teachers in diagnosing individual student mathematics weaknesses and match these areas of need with appropriate instructional strategies and resources based on the College and Career Readiness Standards of Mathematics.
- Assist with disaggregating and analyzing assessment data (ACT, Performance Series, Common Unit Assessments, etc.) to help guide teachers’ instructional decisions.
- Assist the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator in assessing district assessments and their appropriateness to the College and Career Readiness Standards of Mathematics.
- Monitor and report the effectiveness and progress of improved mathematics instruction and student performance to building principals and district staff.
- Help make recommendations regarding instructional materials.
- Help create mathematics common assessments as needed.
- Participate in various training sessions for leaders of mathematics.
- Meet weekly with the secondary curriculum team.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Coordinate with other Central Office personnel to assist schools in formulating and implementing Continuous Improvement Plans.
- Provide training for mentees.
