Job Title: Recreation TherapistLocation: NPC Plaza BuildingDepartment Name: Residential Units - IP AdolReq #: 0000213036Status: HourlyShift: EveningPay Range: $33.26 - $34.37 per hourPay Transparency:The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.Job Overview:The Recreation Therapist plans, organizes and implements recreational activities and interventions designed to improve clients' physical, emotional, cognitive, and social functioning.Using leisure and recreational activities as therapeutic tools, the Recreation Therapist promotes health, well-being, and quality of life for individuals or groups in a variety of settings.New Point Specialty is a 15-bed out-of-home treatment setting serving adolescents who are residents of NJ between the ages of 14 and 18.The program model is designed to respond to the needs of youth who manifest significant emotional and/or behavioral challenges which require specialized clinical intervention.The primary goal is to provide a caring, therapeutic environment that facilitates and promotes adaptive skill acquisition in a safe, supportive environment to youth aged 14–18 years old who reside in the program for nine months to a year.Qualifications:Required:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Creative Arts Modality (Art, Dance, Music, or Recreation Therapy)
Minimum of one year work experience working with children and adolescentsCertifications and Licenses Required:
Board certification in Art, Dance, Music, or Recreation Therapy
Scheduling Requirements:
Shift working, varies, 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm
Minimum one shift per week
Per Diem (PD)
Essential Functions:
Recreation/leisure assessment and report
Allied activities are based on the cognitive and emotional needs of the youth in the milieu and require identified outcome measures
Provide youth with structured and guided activities on the program's site or in the community which are participatory in nature and directly related to the youth treatment planning needs
Examples may include, but are not limited to: yoga, movement, music, art therapy, vocational activities, etc.
