DescriptionMerrill is excited to offer this 18 month training program where the candidate will learn fundamental skills of fabrication, machining, and processing side-by-side with experienced employees. The candidate will be immersed into Merrill’s APEX group learning Solidworks, CATIA, AutoDesk, Processing and ERP software. At the end of the 18-month program, the candidate will have opportunities in Merrill to further their career in a specific function. These opportunities include Mechanical Design, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management, or continuing in the APEX group.Job Functions:
  • Work in our APEX group utilizing CAD and ERP software to process and route components and assemblies through our various manufacturing plants.
  • Learning to read and interpret customer drawings, garner a solid understanding of advanced GD&T, and using that knowledge to transform drawings and concepts into products for our customers.
  • Completing the structure, routing and drawings in a timely fashion to support the company goals.
  • Evaluating, analyzing and implementing best practices for processing and releasing machining, fabrications and manufacturing projects to the shop floor.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical/manufacturing or industrial engineering or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Must have a hands on approach to engineering and design of complex components and aerospace tooling.
  • 0-5 years of experience in engineering in tooling and/or special machines.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate data and develop ideas, able to create machine concepts.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Solid computer skills in Windows, Microsoft Office Products.
  • Strong ability to keep focused and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work with well with people.
  • Plan and carry out assignments and resolve most conflicts independently.
  • Problem solver, organized, good written and verbal skills, and strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Preferences: College/Internship experience with common CAD systems such as CATIA, NX, CREO, SOLID WORKS, Inventor/AutoCAD.
