
Senior Counsel - Employment Law

- Provide legal advice to business partners, including human resources, safety, and management, on a broad range of employment issues including: recruiting and hiring, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, accommodations, compensation and benefits, wage and hour, workplace investigations, terminations, and contingent workforce matters.
- Work collaboratively with business partners to solve legal, risk and business issues.
- Investigate and respond to claims, demand letters, administrative complaints, audits, and other employment-related inquiries (e.g., EEOC, FEPA, DOL, OSHA/MSHA, and other state/local agencies).
- Lead privileged internal audits and investigations.
- Draft and revise employment-related agreements, templates, policies, and procedures, such as restrictive covenant agreements, consulting agreements, severance agreements, and handbooks.
- Create and deliver engaging and educational trainings related to employment matters, such as HR best practices, Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, etc.
- Monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities and provide strategic advice to business partners regarding the same.
- Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
- Manage outside counsel as necessary, including setting case strategies, instituting litigation holds, responding to discovery requests, and reviewing budgets & invoices.
- Work collaboratively with all levels of internal and external clients.
- Identify legal exposures and take steps to ensure processes are in place to mitigate those exposures.
- Provide legal support for acquisitions and divestitures.
- Maintain a courteous, cooperative, and professional demeanor at all times.
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- License to practice law in at least one state.
- 4+ years of practicing employment law as part of an in-house team or law firm.
- Knowledge of best-in-class practices with respect to employment compliance.
- Working knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing employment.
- Working knowledge of Westlaw and other legal research databases.
- Ability to travel domestically in the US up to 15% of calendar
