As a Substance Abuse Disorder Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in providing support and guidance to individuals seeking recovery from substance abuse. Join us in our mission to make a positive impact on the well-being of individuals and families in our community.Specifically, this clinical position will be supporting our clients in detox and residential level of care.Substance Abuse Counselor Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is required.
- Valid state clinical licensure, or eligible to become licensed, is required (see below).
- Prior experience in substance abuse counseling is preferred, but a willingness to work in this field with mentorship/training will suffice.
- Detox or residential level of clinical experience is preferred, but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Valid license in Maine as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) is preferred.
- Candidates who are immediately eligible for their Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) license in Maine can be considered.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)Substance Abuse Counselor Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the needs of individuals seeking substance abuse treatment.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
- Provide counseling services to individuals and facilitate group therapy sessions.
- Address the unique needs and challenges associated with substance abuse recovery.
- Offer education and preventive services to individuals and groups to promote substance abuse awareness and prevention.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and documentation standards.
- Work collaboratively with other counselors, healthcare professionals, and support staff to deliver comprehensive care.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to treatment planning.
