Come work with us and let's build something great together!S3, Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer or Scientist to support the PEO Aviation team on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.THIS ROLE IS CONTINGENT ON AWARD OF CONTRACT!The Utility Helicopters Project Office (UHPO) is responsible for the comprehensive life cycle management of the Army’s utility helicopter (UH) fleet. The UHPO manages multiple phases of acquisition, development, production, modification, recapitalization, sustainment, and foreign military sales for the UH 60 Black Hawk Helicopter. In addition, the UHPO is responsible for the acquisition and management of the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH). The UH 60 Black Hawk mission is to protect and sustain the force by providing air assault, general support, command and control, and aero-medical evacuation capabilities.Responsibilities:
  • Lead or significantly contribute to the engineering analysis, design, integration, and evaluation of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter subsystems and components.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on complex weapon system performance, testing, evaluation, and mission readiness.
  • Oversee or conduct advanced testing, modeling, simulation, and data interpretation to improve system capability and reliability.
  • Apply technical leadership and management skills to guide multidisciplinary engineering/scientific teams and direct junior personnel.
  • Provide strategic input and technical recommendations to support program objectives, acquisition strategies, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable military standards, specifications, and regulations related to rotary-wing platforms.
  • Interface with government and industry partners to deliver technical solutions aligned with mission goals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 20 years in complex weapon system engineering, design, analysis, performance or testing and evaluation.
  • Must have an active DOD Secret Clearance.
  • Must have experience in complex weapon system engineering, design, analysis, performance or testing and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter systems, including flight dynamics, avionics, propulsion, structural integrity, survivability, or mission systems.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience, ensuring effective leadership and direction of technical teams.
  • Proven ability to perform at a level requiring extremely high technical competence and leadership in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience supporting Army aviation programs or working within DOD acquisition lifecycle phases.
  • Proficiency in tools and methodologies for systems engineering, testing, and evaluation of aerospace platforms.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements and Army rotary-wing operational requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief senior leadership and stakeholders.
