- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students, ensuring goals and objectives are aligned with students' needs and strengths.
- Provide direct, differentiated instruction in small group settings or one-on-one, supporting students in areas such as literacy, math, social skills, and behavioral development.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify and adapt classroom lessons, ensuring all students are supported in the general education environment.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, resources, and materials to accommodate different learning styles and support the success of each student.
- Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress, adjust instructional strategies, and ensure academic growth.
- Implement classroom accommodations and modifications to support students with disabilities in both academic and social contexts.
- Foster a positive and structured learning environment that encourages self-regulation, independent learning, and social-emotional growth.
- Integrate technology tools to support and enhance learning (e.g., educational apps, assistive technology, interactive whiteboards, and digital platforms).
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to share updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and collaborate on strategies for student success.
- Participate in team meetings with other special education staff, general educators, and administrators to ensure students receive the full range of support they need.
- Advocate for students and ensure they have access to all necessary accommodations, services, and resources.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices in special education, including the use of technology, and actively seek professional development opportunities.
- Develop and implement social-emotional learning strategies, behavioral interventions, and individualized supports to encourage student success both academically and socially.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education for LA.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including students with IEPs, in an elementary school setting.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices for inclusive education.
- Experience with or openness to incorporating technology into the classroom (e.g., assistive technology, educational apps, interactive tools).
- Strong ability to create and implement individualized education plans and adapt instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, flexibility, and a passion for working with students with special needs.
- Ability to maintain organized records and provide regular feedback on student progress.
- Experience with assistive technology tools (e.g., speech-to-text software, communication devices, or interactive digital resources).
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc.).
- Willingness to learn and integrate new educational technologies to enhance learning for students with diverse needs.
- Knowledge of behavioral management strategies and experience implementing social-emotional learning techniques.
