Position SummaryThe Assistant Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor with the additional title of Associate Director for the School of Nursing (SON) is a nurse educator who is responsible to work collaboratively with other SON administrators, staff, faculty and students to manage the day-to-day aspects of the Undergraduate and Graduate programs and to support the SON. The Associate Director is responsible for the overall integrity and accountability of the nursing curriculum for the undergraduate and graduate programs, including all tracks and options. The position is a 10-month/year position and carries a 25% to 50% reduction in teaching load depending on the needs and resources of the SON.The Assistant Professor is a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track, academic position and the Clinical Assistant Professor is a full-time, 10-month, clinical-track academic position in the School of Nursing, which is part of the College of Health and Human Services at Indiana University Northwest. Each position is a faculty position focused on teaching undergraduate/graduate didactic and clinical nursing courses with a focus on nursing care delivery for diverse populations. Key working relationships include those with other faculty members, as well as with adjunct faculty/preceptors who administer clinical education at the clinical affiliates. The Assistant Professor position requires an expectation of independent and/or collaborative research, encouraged in the Clinical Assistant Professor position, and both ranks include service responsibilities, which may involve participation at the department, division, campus, and/or community level. The position reports to the Director of the School of Nursing.Major Responsibilities and DutiesResponsibilities for the position will include teaching undergraduate/graduate didactic and clinical nursing courses; assisting with curricular development, implementation, and evaluation; mentoring to students; community service/shared governance activities; as well as conducting independent and/or collaborative research (required for tenure-track position; encouraged in other ranks). Responsibilities associated with the Associate Director role include:
- Serve as a member of the School of Nursing administrative team.
- Plan, develop, facilitate, monitor and evaluate curricular outcomes in the graduate nursing program options in collaboration with the faculty and the Track Coordinator(s), and the Director of the School.
- Co-lead with SON administrative team program accreditation efforts.
- Serve as chair of the Curriculum and Evaluation Committee for the Local Council of Nursing Faculty.
- Responsible for oversight of data collection, analysis, and dissemination of results of program evaluation to the faculty.
- Responsible for support of accreditation processes (e.g., data analysis and self-study preparation).
- Responsible for overseeing course development, implementation, and evaluation, and ensuring congruence between curriculum implementation and the philosophy undergirding the curriculum.
- Disseminate evidence-based research for teaching and instruction to faculty.
- Collaborate with the Track Coordinator(s) and Director in the implementation of all aspects of evaluation related to the program to ensure implementation of total program evaluation plan and continuous quality improvement.
- Assist in preparing SON reports as directed by the Director.
- Provides oversight for the scheduling officer for the graduate program options to establish course schedules, in collaboration with the Track Coordinator(s). Review and edit course offerings per the Registrar's schedule and submit each schedule proof to the Director for forwarding to the Registrar's office.
- Supervise, assist and facilitate the work of the Track Coordinator(s).
- Assists and facilitates the work of the Clinical Coordinator regarding clinical scheduling and meeting agency requirements.
- Assists with other activities at the discretion of the SON Director.
- Represent the nursing program to the University, the local and professional community.
- Participate in program marketing and student recruitment in collaboration with the SON faculty and staff.
- Provide input to the Director, on student issues according to the SON policies.
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate adjunct faculty teaching in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs in collaboration with the Track Coordinator(s) and SON Director.
- Provide input to the SON Director regarding performance of full-time faculty teaching in the program.

- Current clinical practice experience
- Knowledge of simulation medical high-fidelity simulators and systems (e.g., Laerdal and Gaumard)
- General knowledge of servers, databases, and web applications (e.g., Microsoft 0365, Python, HTML, and WordPress)
- Graduate degree in nursing.
- Licensed in the state of Indiana or eligible for endorsement.
- DNP/PhD required for tenure-track (ABD candidates will be considered for tenure-track position, with expectation for completion within one year of hiring).
- Ability to conduct independent and/or collaborative research required for tenure-track position.
- Previous teaching experience.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or equivalent.
- Certified Nurse Educator (CNE).
- Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
