Type: Full-TimePosition Summary:An established food and beverage production company is seeking a highly skilled Controls Infrastructure Engineer to join its corporate engineering function. This role will focus on sustaining and improving the core infrastructure behind the organization’s automation and industrial control systems across multiple facilities.The position is rooted at the Wooster, OH manufacturing site and supports facilities nationwide through both direct engagement and remote system support. This person will be responsible for ensuring uptime, patching, access management, cybersecurity compliance, and performance integrity of the control environments.Key Responsibilities:Oversee the performance and availability of plant-wide automation systems, ensuring that firmware and software platforms are kept secure and current.Maintain and manage the lifecycle of Rockwell-based applications including but not limited to AssetCentre, Studio5000, and FactoryTalk View SE, ensuring licensing compliance and routine updates.Support MES and SCADA systems running on AVEVA System Platform, with responsibility for patching, license management, backups, and operational reliability.Build and configure alert systems to flag anomalies or interruptions within the control infrastructure.Define and standardize hardware, software, and network configurations for engineering servers used across all production sites.Review, validate, and schedule OS updates for automation servers, coordinating with internal IT and plant stakeholders to avoid operational downtime.Author and maintain documentation on control system standards, network topologies, and system configurations.Establish and enforce backup/recovery protocols for automation assets and ensure backup execution aligns with corporate disaster recovery strategies.Manage and monitor industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, Device Level Ring (DLR), and ControlNet, coordinating with IT to safeguard reliable communication and secure segmentation.Handle provisioning and audits of access control for engineering and automation users in accordance with internal policy.Respond to technical service tickets for issues relating to PLCs, AVEVA applications, and other automation infrastructure using the company’s internal helpdesk platform.Assist in evaluating hardware and software obsolescence across all sites and propose remediation plans.Provide input on design and architecture documentation for automation panels, control cabinets, server racks, and networked devices.Requirements:Must-Have:5+ years of experience in control systems or industrial automation support, particularly in manufacturing environments.Proficiency with Rockwell Automation software suites and licensing structures.Strong understanding of PLC and HMI platforms, including update cycles, version control, and security best practices.Hands-on experience with AVEVA System Platform or similar SCADA/MES systems.Ability to configure and maintain Windows-based automation servers and SQL environments.Knowledge of industrial network protocols and topologies (e.g., DLR, ControlNet, managed switches).Familiarity with cybersecurity standards applicable to OT environments.Capable of writing technical documentation, system procedures, and user access protocols.Excellent troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and support desk experience.Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.Familiarity with backup software specific to control systems and experience building automation recovery frameworks.Competency in scripting, diagnostics tools, and system monitoring utilities.Comfortable working in a hybrid IT/OT environment and collaborating with both technical and non-technical teams.Additional Notes:Travel up to 25% may be required to support or upgrade control infrastructure at additional production sites.This is a hands-on engineering role situated within a regulated, clean, and highly automated manufacturing setting.
