As the HR Director you will play a crucial role in advancing the mission by providing strategic leadership and oversight to our Human Resources department. Reporting directly to the Deputy of Human Resources, you will lead a team of HR professionals and collaborate closely with various departments to ensure the effective implementation of HR policies and practices. This role is located onsite in Auburn, NY.Leadership and Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of HR professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Provide guidance and support to HR staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Employee Relations:
  • Conduct and oversee employee relations investigations, ensuring fair and equitable resolutions in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers and employees on employee relations matters.
Performance Management:
  • Oversee the performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and development planning.
  • Work closely with department heads to address performance issues and develop strategies for improvement.
Onboarding:
  • Develop and implement effective onboarding processes to ensure a seamless integration of new hires into the organization.
  • Coordinate with hiring managers to facilitate orientation sessions and provide resources for new employees.
Leave Management:
  • Oversee the leave management process, including FMLA, disability, and other types of leave.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to leave administration.
Benefits Administration:
  • Collaborate with the benefits team to administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding benefits-related inquiries and issues.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Human Resources, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of employment laws and regulations, particularly those related to non-profit organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Spanish Speaking Preferred
