
Restoration Inspector

- Traveling between both active and inactive project sites throughout Monroe, Wayne, Genesee, Orleans, Wyoming, Allegany, Livingston, Cayuga, and Ontario counties.
- Ensuring pavement, curbing, concrete, and green spaces are being restored adequately and in a timely manner.
- Verify compaction, topsoil, grading, erosion and sediment controls, dust mitigation, environmental site protection and other key aspects of restoration.
- Measure restored quantities accurately (pavement sq footage, soil volume, planting area, etc.) to support contractor payment and punch-list development / closure.
- Track progress and timeline, escalate delays or cost impacting conditions to client's Gas Engineering Supervisor.
- Assure contractor obligations are being fulfilled and that work is being conducted in accordance with client's construction standards, O&M manual, construction plans, local regulations, municipal standards, permit conditions, and/or SWPPP, etc.
- Coordinate with contractors on restoration deficiency, establish schedules for mitigation activities, and communicate with municipal officials, highway superintendents, and affected / nearby property owners.
- Addressing concerns of stakeholders and avoiding potential stop work orders.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings to set expectations for restoration performance and standards.
- Conduct follow up investigations to ensure compliance with client expectations and standards, terms and conditions of the contracts, and the Pay ID descriptions at the end of the warrant period.
- Provide weekly updates to client's Gas Engineering Supervisor.
- Coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Stakeholders could consist of utility clients, contractors, local property owners, municipalities, and/or third-party inspectors, etc.
- Compose detailed daily and/or weekly reports in a timely manner
- Demonstrates leadership in health, safety and environmental protection on the project. Applies the requirements of the client's contractor safety manual to promote overall compliance of health and safety standards with all contractors and subcontractors on the project.
- Keep detailed written/photographic records of each site to adequately document project progression and adherence to client standards.
- Ensure appropriate WZTC/MPOT is being practiced by contractor when working within roadways.
- Participate in post-project reviews, lessons-learned meetings, and suggest improvements in processes or quality control standards.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, alignment grades, trench profiles, and restoration specifications.
- High school diploma/GED required; Associate's or bachelor's in civil engineering, construction management, environmental or other related field is preferred.
- 2+ Years of experience in natural gas distribution pipeline and/or underground utility restoration oversight (gas, water, sewer, etc.) - strongly preferred.
- OSHA 10 or 30 - Preferred.
- Physically fit to work outdoors in all weather conditions, ability to talk trenches, climbs, and inspect confined spaces - Required.
- Computer skills - Word, Excel, Outlook - Required.
- Valid driver's license and willingness and ability to travel - Required.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communications skills - Required.
- Ability to thrive independently in the field, manage your own time in order to oversee multiple sites simultaneously. - Required.
