- Advises prospective and current students on PLA eligibility, options, and procedures;
- Helps students identify experiences that may be eligible for PLA assessment and guide them through the application and documentation process;
- Supports students in developing PLA portfolios or preparing for assessments;
- Collaborates with faculty and academic departments to establish and maintain rigorous, discipline-specific PLA assessment methods and develop novel assessment methods not currently offered to students;
- Serves as a liaison between students and faculty evaluators to ensure transparent and fair assessment practices;
- Coordinates all steps of the PLA process, from application intake to credit transcript entry;
- Ensures timely communication and processing of PLA evaluations and results;
- Maintains accurate and confidential student records related to PLA;
- Promotes awareness of PLA opportunities through workshops, events, digital media, and printed materials;
- Engages with community organizations, employers, and workforce development partners to expand PLA outreach and participation;
- Maintains data on PLA participation, outcomes, and credit awarded and recommend improvements based on data trends and feedback;
- Uses data analytics to evaluate program effectiveness and generate reports for institutional stakeholders;
- Collaborates with the Coordinator of Assessment to identify opportunities to align non-credit courses with prior work experience as a method for awarding PLA credit;
- Conducts training and informational sessions for faculty, staff, and advisors on the PLA process and best practices;
- Assists in developing, implementing, and updating PLA policies, ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and accreditor standards;
- Stays current with best practices and policy developments related to prior learning and competency-based education.
Hours per week: up to 29Qualifications:Required Qualifications:
- Relevant Bachelor's degree
- Effective strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to communicate with students
- Strong academic advising skills, or a master's degree and experience in post-secondary education, public administration or another relevant field
