Salary: $20.00/hr + up to $2/hr shift differentialSchedule: Hours can vary from 6am-10pm Monday-Friday with occasional weekend and holiday work depending on organizational needs.Position Overview:Children's Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Part Time Cook/Housekeeper to work as part of a team to help in preparing meals and snacks for students and staff, as well as assisting with the cleaning and maintenance of designated facility areas. What You Will Do:(Cook):
  • Food Preparation: Fulfill menu requirements and serve meals.
  • Cleaning Duties: Wash pots and pans, trays, dishes, etc. Take out kitchen trash to outside trash bins.
  • Food Storage: Cover, label and date all suitable leftovers for storage.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain personal cleanliness, as well as cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas.
  • Compliance: Take and record food temperatures at mealtime. Take and record refrigerator, freezer and dishwashing machine temperatures.
  • Professional Development: Attend team meetings as required. Participate in required in-service training.
(Housekeeping):
  • Cleaning Duties: Clean assigned areas according to daily and weekly schedules. Launder linens and children's clothes as assigned.
  • Cleaning Storage: Maintain storage areas and cleaning supplies inventory
  • Safety: Report needed repairs or safety hazards immediately to supervisor.
  • Team Collaboration: Attend assigned meetings.
  • Professional Development: Participate in required in-service training. Participate in quality improvement activities as assigned.

RequirementsQualifications:
  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Some experience in quantity food production/housekeeping preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires standing for extended periods of time.
