- Provides relationship-based, patient centered care that is consistent with population specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease, etc.) in a manner that adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity.
- Partners with the patient and significant others and/or family (as appropriate); keeping the patient at ease in the office through a collaborative and communicative approach to all care rendered.
- Prepares patient for the visit with the physicians/APPs.
- Prepares rooms and equipment, and aids physicians/APPs with treatment of patients.
- Carries out orders generated from the office visit. Responds to patient requests generated outside of the office visit.
- Maintains the safety needs of the patient at all times.
- May be required to support front office operations by assisting with check-in, check-out, scheduling, and other non-clinical functions.
- Provides patient care in accordance with recognized clinical practice guidelines and standards set forth by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or similar organizations.
- Adheres to federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as organizational and industry standards for clinical care.
- Upholds all health care system/organizational and WMG policies and procedures and clinical competencies put forth by this job description.
- Collaborates with providers, nurses, and clinical staff to uphold continuity and consistency of care.
- Participates in daily huddles, staff meetings, and medical group, or system workgroups/committees to represent the voice of the medical assistant.
- Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in an inclusive manner that promotes the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives to ensure alignment with best practices in medical assisting.
- May be asked to serve as a preceptor to assist in the onboarding and/or training of new team members, trainees, or students.
- Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment, required mandatory education, and population specific education.
- Demonstrates leadership by identifying areas for improvement in care delivery and suggesting innovative solutions.
- Participates in workgroups, committees, and shared decision-making groups.
- Regularly reflects on personal performance and areas of strength or weakness. Uses this insight to seek out relevant training or mentorship to continuously improve.
- Supports efficient and effective use of material resources in a fiscally responsible manner. Minimizes waste of medical supplies and medications.
- Alert supervisors or ordering staff when supplies are running low.
- May be asked to provide staffing coverage for absences, vacation, and leave.

- High School Diploma General or GED General or Other / Certificate Medical Assisting
- CMA - Cert Medical Assistant
- BLS - Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
